Jewel Tones and Oil Slicks ( feat. Enchanted Willow Druzy Ring)

Hi,

For a while now I've been wanting to make this blog a bit more me and I think I finally found a way to do that. If you've ever read my "about me" page or seen my Instagram feed you'll know I love big chunky rings. I don't really want Squeaky Nails to be about anything other than nails, so starting today, I'll be sharing nail art inspired by one of those rings from time to time!
You can probably guess how excited I was when I got the chance to choose a piece of jewellery from Enchanted Willow, an online jewellery store based in the UK, that sells beautiful druzy crystal and gemstone jewellery. I chose the Sapphire Blue Druzy ring* and here's what I came up with for my nails.

I used: BYS - Black Satin / China Glaze - First Class Ticket / Renaissance Cosmetics - St. Clair / Essence - Power Girl / China Glaze - Cowgirl Up / Renaissance Cosmetics - Enamoured* / Nayll - Smooth it Out Glitter TopCoat*

More photos after the jump!

Instead of trying to recreate the crystal itself on my nails (that would have not turned out well, at all) I chose to work with the colour scheme and create a shiny oil slick type design. I used the bottle brushes to lightly brush on the colours, starting with the darker blue shades and finishing with the pinks and reds. This is one of those techniques that will look super messy until you add a top coat.

Here's how the ring sits on my hand. I love its size on my creepy long fingers and chunkiness! Like the nails, the colours of the druzy agate will shift and reflect the light differently depending on the angle you look at it. I really love it.

What do you think? Do you sometimes match your nails to the jewellery you're wearing?

Oh, and if you love jewellery you might want to hop over to my Instagram page, because Enchanted Willow and I have teamed up for a giveaway where you can win one of their pieces!

  2. LOL @ "creepy long fingers" - my short stubby Asian hands are jelly of your elegance! Also I love the fuck out of matching rings and nails! The worst is having to choose between gold and silver, haha.
