Sushi Nails

Hi,

I. Love. Sushi. In fact, I love it so much I freehanded some sushi on my nails! I spotted this photo by @I_heart_nailart on Instagram, and couldn't resist giving it a try. It was the first time I tried doing anything like this and I have to say I'm semi-pleased with how they came out.

I used: Essence - Absolutely Blue (two coats) / Essence - Wanna Be Your Sunshine / Essence - Off to Miami / Catrice - I'm A Survivor (from the Glamazona collection) / Hema - Summer Party / Etos - 122 white / Bys - Black Satin / Essence - Quick Dry Top Coat / Small detailing brushes

More after the jump!

I had ordered a cheap set (much like this one) of tiny detailing nail art brushes ages ago and kind of neglected them, but they were just what I needed here. The brushes seem to hold up pretty well, too, even after cleaning them with remover a few times.
Oh, and in case you're wondering what the blobby thing with the tail on my index finger is - it's shrimp tempura. Duh.

I obviously need a lot of practice with drawing small things on my nails!

Have you ever tried recreating food on your nails?

  4. I always tend to paint so big on nails but I have to keep reminding myself to paint smaller. SMALLER! Mmmmm I love tamago. I always save it for last as a bit of a sweet dessert type thing. :D
